Barbequing some Sacred Cows
So why is the current Middle East War a subject that no “Integral” blogger, except Dallman, dares to mention? Perhaps because the mere fact of doing so will inevitably bring one to some rather unpalatable conclusions.
The tension of which might quite possibly be part of what is driving Wilber batty. More on that later, for right now lets just look at the facts vs. the rhetoric.
Sacred Cow #1 That big bully Israel is oppressing those poor helpless Palestinians, who are reduced to throwing rocks at Israeli tanks, and only want the invading Israelis to leave them alone.
Now how are we going to keep up this fiction? The Israelis withdrew from Lebanon SIX YEARS AGO, and haven’t been back since. The Israelis withdrew from Gaza last year. The Israelis are planning to withdraw from much of the West Bank, without any concessions from the Palestinians at all.
So how did this current outbreak begin? Hamas, now being left alone to run what is essentially a Palestinian state, dug a tunnel under the security fence, and kidnapped Israeli soldiers from within Israel. After which, Hizbullah also kidnapped and killed Israeli soldiers within Israel. And followed that up by sending over 1,000 rockets, first into Israeli towns, and now into large cities like Haifa.
But we all know this is just one more response to Israeli aggression, right? Tell that to the Egyptians, the Jordanians, and the Saudis. All of whom are criticizing, are you ready for this, not Israel; no, they are condemning Hizbullah!
Remember the “poor defenseless, reduced to throwing rocks” part? Well, Hizbullah has a stockpile of 13,000 rockets to launch into Israel, or at least they did, before they launched 1,000 of them in the last few days. They are so strong militarily, that they basically run the Southern part of Lebanon, keeping the Lebanese Army out. Despite the fact that the UN actually passed resolution 1559, which means that most of the Arab states had to be on board for it to pass, six years ago calling for Hizbullah to be disarmed.
Sacred Cow #2 It’s giant Israel, against a few Palestinians in refugee camps.
Of course, this has been never true. If you want to root for the “underdog” in the past, that would have been Israel. Because it used to be Israel against Egypt, and Syria, and Jordan, and Saudi Arabia…. Basically tiny Israel vs. the entire Arab world.
But it’s just impossible not to notice this time that it is Iran and Syria vs. Israel, using Hamas and Hizbullah as pawns in their game. With Iran supplying all the rockets.
Which brings up Sacred Cow #3 Those Arabs and Jews just can’t get along, never have, never will.
So why is this happening right now? Because the Group of Eight was just about to meet, with #1 on the agenda being Iran’s nuclear weapons program. And to keep that discussion from happening, Iran called on Hamas and Hizbullah to create a huge distraction. One which not only distracts the International groups, but also furthers Iran’s goal of “wiping Israel off the map”.
And as it happens, Iran isn’t Arabic at all, it is ethnic Persian. Iran is the big bully that has dominated Middle Eastern politics for the past 3,000 years. Something they intend to do again, as soon as they complete that nuclear bomb they are working on.
NOW do you understand why Egypt and Jordan and Saudi Arabia are condemning Hizbullah instead of Israel?
Hizbullah is not merely NOT the face of Islamic self defense, daring to protect the Lebanese people against Israeli aggression. In fact, Hizbullah is a dedicated terrorist organization, as committed as al Qaeda to the overthrow of Western Civilization. Even the appeasement minded EU has officially labeled Hizbullah as a ‘terrorist organization”.
Hizbullah isn’t just in Lebanon, either. There is an Iranian branch as well, which announced just the other day that they have recruited and trained 2,000 Iranian terrorists who are just waiting for the word from the Iranian government to disperse around the world, bombing and killing in the name of Islam. Suicide bombers, coming soon to a office building, subway, or mall near you….
Huge Sacred Cow #4 It’s the Integral Community vs. the MGM.
Actually, the Integral Community IS the MGM; for the most part anyway. And if one is an Integral writer, one had best not take on any MGM sacred cows, or the hoard will descend upon you, flaming you with epithets like “conservative” or “neo-con” or Blue meme…
I suspect that when Ken wrote this, he was speaking from personal experience:
"You’re in the closet, aren’t you? Because if you express actual integral thoughts or ideas then the herd descends on you with a vengeance, yes? If you are in that 2%, your life is a living hell, in so many ways, isn’t it? Because the first-tier rants are all around you, aren’t they?"
Because even today, you can still find attacks on Wilber that call him a neo-con. I mean please, I thought everyone understood that neo-con is a code word for “jew”, and I really doubt Wilber is Jewish. Yes, many of the attacks from the non-Integral part of the MGM call his theories “conservative” or even “neo-con”. Which of course they aren’t in any way. But he does attempt to “include and transcend”, and if you are going to include, that has to mean Orange meme too.
Now is this why the novel “Boomeritis” is such an unreadable mess? Wilber admits he had nearly finished a non-fiction version before he changed his mind and wrote Boomeritis. Did he do that because he realized that if he just wrote a straightforward account of Boomerits, 90% of his readership would realize “he’s talking about ME”, and promptly stop having anything to do with him?
I’ve criticized Wilber for making MGM Flatland jokes like: “Nazis, Klan members, and Republicans”. Is he so unconscious that he doesn’t realize the import of what he is saying? Even though the only reason I can recognize that “joke” as being MGM Flatland is from reading Wilber himself. Wilber is the MGM Wilber warned me against.
Or is he trying to cover himself, so that the healthy Greens, the MGMers, and the Left Wing Blues, stay on board with the truly Integral theories he is trying to get across to them? Never having met the man, I have no idea. Perhaps it’s a little of each.
Maybe he is even being stopped in his own awareness by an unconscious knowledge that if he did write purely Second Tier material his readership would desert him in a nano-second.
At any rate, my contention is that the unacknowledged shadow of the Integral Community is that the MGM runs rampant thru it. Just check out this post from an “Integral” website:
“I'm torn on this issue. I think both sides are pretty screwed up. Clearly this new crisis was not initiated by Israel, but my conspiracy theory loving friends think the CIA paid Hizbullah a bunch of money to start this latest episode as a covert way to create more of a justification for war with Iran. Gotta love the conspiracy guys for their creativity.”
My theory would be that the people saying the CIA is behind this have been paid by Noam Chomsky to help sell his books. But I better not post that, as then someone will post that I was paid to post THAT by Ann Coulter to sell more of her books, and then…… Heh, don’t want to get that started.
Where was I, oh yes….
And I know from personal experience that if one dares to post the sort of things I am posting here, such as:
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Israel is the underdog, fighting the good fight against Islamic Fascism for all of Western Civilization, while supposedly neutral groups like the Vatican call for Israeli “restraint”. Which is just so absurd, how much “restraint” do we use in the fight against al Qaeda? And yet Hizbullah is merely the Shia version of the Sunni al Qaeda. And how much “restraint” would the US use if Cuba were to lob a thousand missiles into Miami, with another 12,000 in reserve?
And:
Michael Crichton’s point that Global Warming is a myth, used by the scientific research community to keep the funds coming in, while the MGM uses it to attack Western corporations.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Then what happens is that the MGM hoard, as well as the naïve healthy Greens, and the Left Wing Blues, do “descend on you with a vengeance”, as Wilber put it.
Now my quest to get Integral blogs to discuss this issue seems to be working. Not, sadly, in a rational way though. One self-identified Integral blog wrote, clearly in response to me as he had quoted this blog yesterday:
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
“I've done a bit of reading today
So, this is some of what I learned:
William Kristol is stark raving mad
Israel is a brutal monster of a state
Hizbullah is winning the hearts and minds of Arab citizens”
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The last two link to articles that make attempt to make that point. Not that I found that these articles actually establish the accuracy of that point, but at least they do argue the perspective embedded in the title.
But “William Kristol is start raving mad” links only to a very logical, cogent, and reasonable article by Kristol himself.
http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/012/433fwbvs.asp
Now I don’t know for sure if this blogger is in fact taking a blogger logic course from Wyatt Erpy. But really, if you are going to say “stark raving mad” without any explanation at all, why not just say “s-m-d”?
For those of you who have read this far without smoke coming out of your ears, I recommend you read that whole article that Dallman linked to. Yes, it is from a Jewish neo-con magazine. It is also the best overall summary I know of about how the world got where it is today. Not only in terms of Islamic terrorism, but also American politics, and even touching on the rise of the MGM, although not in “integral” terminology.
Yes, it’s rather long, and densely packed with information, much of which you may not be aware of, and some of his contentions may initially make you angry. I know they made me angry the first time I read them in articles by other writers.
Having researched those points on my own over the past couple of years, and finding that “what I knew, wasn’t true”, I stand behind the history described there. It’s absolutely worth the time and effort to not only read, but ponder….
